The one piece that may be missing from your path to healing

A few years ago when I suffered chronically from lethargy, headaches and bloating, I also felt unmotivated to do anything, really. I was in a constant state of longing for the couch and wanting to run home to veg out.

Always low on energy, I went about my day, often zombie-like, just going through the motions and eating for comfort. I knew that it wasn't the way I wanted to live. I had a deep desire to change and shake out of that seemingly endless funk.

So I started heading to the gym after work every day. I ate whole grains, lean meats and salads. Despite my efforts, however, I still felt exhausted and the headaches continued. It would take a couple more years and a book before I noticed and felt life-changing results.

I look back at that time in my life and realize that I followed two very important tenets that helped me achieve long-lasting change: having a deep desire to feel my best and taking consistent action to get there, no matter what.

There is also a third tenet. One that is just as, if not, more important than the first two:

Having unwavering belief that it will happen for me.

When I would speak to people in the past about any accomplishment I've made, I often started with "I've always known that..." before going into telling the story. Since it's virtually impossible to know anything involving the future with 100% certainty, what I was really saying was that I had belief for that thing.

What if the missing piece to your health journey is belief?

What if you take the beliefs from various areas of your life (chosen faith, value systems, work ethic, etc.) and also applied them to your health (e.g. I tried going Vegan, but I only felt worse-it's all good, I'll make tweaks and keep going)?
