4 things needed for change
If you want to improve your physical and/or mental health, you may simply decide to change and then take action. Yet oftentimes when people fall off the "change" wagon, they fail to get back on—until the next year or so.
For example, when I changed how I presented to the world to align with my authentic self on the inside,
• or when I changed how I nourished my body for the better through nutrition,
• or when I changed my thoughts and emotions on a regular basis to create a new reality...
I found that four things needed to be set in place before I could take any action. They helped me develop and sustain effective, long-lasting change.
These four things helped fuel every step of the way.
➤ 1. A burning desire
It's not enough to just want something. You may start with a "want," but that "want" has to evolve into an all-consuming, non-fleeting ambition—an almost obsessive yearning, always tugging at your mind, body and heart.
➤ 2. A solid WHY
Your burning desire to lose weight, find the perfect mate, or to be physically fit will fall by the wayside without a strong, solid and compelling reason. What would it mean to have the thing and why is it important?
➤ 3. A decisive commitment
Effecting long-lasting change requires a string of decisions made on purpose. You have to decide every minute, every hour and every day to make the change. You have to adjust your thoughts, emotions and behaviors until this new way of being is etched into your mind, body and heart.
➤ 4. Unwavering belief
When I decided to reinvent myself and change what I fed my body and my brain, I believed that a new reality was just around the corner. When I hit bumps or delays along the way, I had my own back no matter what. Incidentally, an unwavering belief is a decision to think the same thoughts repeatedly, over and over again until the desired results are achieved.
