This one feeling can determine your healing success

Last month I did a 3-day cleanse after months of feeling lethargic and all around crappy.

On day two of it, I felt amazing! Having had the first meal of the day, a green smoothie, I felt light, clear-headed and energized. I couldn't believe that I wasn't experiencing any sugar and carb withdrawal symptoms!

Then I started to feel it—a subtle ache in my head. A couple hours later, the pain progressed from a level 2 to 5.

By midday, the pain was so bad that I had to lay down. At this point, the pain level felt like an 11! It was excruciating and I could not get comfortable.

I knew I had two choices: grab my former bestie, Advil, and pop a few. Or stick it out until the tension headache subsided, which could have been a few minutes to a few hours.

I chose the latter. I got up and grabbed a couple of ice packs, laid back down and felt the pain.

Here is why I chose to feel and sit with the pain over taking the orange pills:

1. I had decided ahead of time that I was going to get my energy and mental clarity back, no matter what.

2. The pain reminded me why I was doing the cleanse in the first place: so that I wouldn't experience any more of it.

3. This wasn't my first cleanse. Though excruciatingly painful, the headache was familiar to me. I knew that with a bit of time, it would pass.

Three hours later, the pain level dropped to a level 3 and I was able to go about my day. When I completed the cleanse, my fatigue lifted, I was thinking better and my energy reserve seemed endless!
