This one phrase could be sabotaging your healing process

I was once the queen of having ten problems to every solution. I once had a colleague who called me out on my BS.

I remember commenting on a project that I was working on, how laborious it was and impossible to complete within the given timeline. He said, "You really need to start adopting a can-do attitude."

His words were triggering and I felt attacked. They were loud, clear and annoyingly true.

The truth was that I was a Negative Nancy for many years of my life. I was the "Yeah, but..." expert on almost every conversation and brainstorming session. Poking holes at ideas and assessing their validity are important, yes.

Though at the time, I would often knock down an idea, thought, belief or perspective because of two things: the need to "be right" or having a pessimistic outlook on life.

I started to realize that the more I practiced pessimism, the more I opened myself up to rejecting new ideas.

The more I felt the need to "be right," the more I was training and wiring my brain to normalize fear instead of abundance.

For the last five or so years, I have been examining and reprogramming my brain to generate thoughts that serve rather than limit me.

Part of that work includes adopting a can-do attitude by replacing the phrase "Yeah, but..." with "Yes and..."

This new outlook can look like this:

I can heal my gut and eat my favorite foods

I can work on my business and I can binge on Netflix

I can scroll through social media and I can work out

There is often a fine line between juggling thoughts that are fear-based versus thoughts that promote growth.

I believe that finding the balance that works for you can open up a world of opportunities and abundance!
